Gattoni, Fiume 09.09.43 von Deutschland übernommen, gesunken 24.1.1944 Obwohl noch einige Augenzeugen leben, ist über das Wrack, das da in 50m Tiefe ruht, nicht allzu viel bekannt. Anfang 1944 lag die Francesca di (oder „da“) Rimini mit einem Motorschaden vor der Insel Kaprije. Ein englischer Aufklärer entdeckte den Munitionsfrachter, der Nachschub für Rommels Afrikakrieg liefern sollte. Die herbeigerufenen Kampfflugzeuge beschossen das Schiff und ein Teil der Munition explodierte. Nach den Archiven sollte die Francesca in Pula liegen. Auf jeden Fall ist sie eines der schönsten Wracks in der Adria, bewachsen mit Schwämmen und Weichkorallen, umgeben von Fischschulen und meistens exzellenten Sichtverhältnissen.
