Die Junkers 87 war ein deutsches Kampfflugzeug, das im 2. Weltkrieg zum präzisen Bombenangriff entwickelt wurde. Die Besatzung bestand aus dem Piloten und dem Heckschützen. Es wurde von der Jugoslavischen Flugabwehr am 1. April 1941 während eines Angriffs auf Šibenik abgeschossen. Insgesamt wurden 5.709 Stück dieses Typs produziert. Zwei gut erhaltene Exemplare befinden sich in Museen in Chicago und London. Weitere drei wurden am Meeresgrund gefunden, dieses ist das am besten erhaltene. Es wurde von Apnoe Tauchern im Sept. 2014 gefunden. Da das Kabinendach abgeworfen war, geht man von der Annahe aus, dass sich die Mannschaft mit Fallschirm retten konnte. Der Motor fand sich in einer benachbarten Bucht, wurde jedoch inzwischen zum Flugzeug zurückgebracht. The Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka (from Sturzkampfflugzeug, „dive bomber“) was a two-man (pilot and rear gunner) German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft. It wa s shot down on the 1.April 1941 by anti-aircraft defence of the Kingdom of Jugoslavia while attacking Šibenik. 5.709 pcs of „Štuka“ were produced, two are completly preserved; in the museums of Chicago and London.Three are found underwater and this one is in the best condition It was found after 73 years by spear fishers September 2014. The pilot was forced to land on sea and obviously the crew survived, since the cabin was found open.The whole plain was found in good condition, except the engine, that was for some time in a bay nearby. The machinegun and instrument console were taken out for restauration and conservation and will be in the future in a museum on the island of Žirije.
